2009 Memories

2009 Video Montage from Lakeside Baptist on Vimeo.

Merry Christmas!

What a joy and honor to serve the Lord at Lakeside Baptist Church. We are truly a family. A family that loves the Lord and loves one another. Our prayer is that you and your family will have a most blessed Christmas together and a Happy New Year!
From the Pastors, Office Staff and Families

Just for fun!

"Christmas At Home"

Wow! What a tremendous program by our Choir and Drama Team on December 13th. Your many, many hours of preparation were worth it. This preacher could not have been any more pleased with the way you folks presented the gospel so clearly, boldly and professionally. The church was packed to capacity. Sincere thanks are in order to Bro. Jim, Leah, Star and Wes for your leadership.

Parent/Teen Bible Quiz

What a fun time of fellowship at our Parent/Teen Bible Quiz. Once again the teens came out on top but I could tell that the parents had studied very hard. Enjoy the slideshow.

Awana Christmas Party

Enjoy some pictures from our AWANA Christmas Party. Thank you to all of our dedicated AWANA leaders working with our precious kids. The clubbers each brought a gift to give to the Garden City Rescue Mission for needy children.

Dr. David Gibbs at Lakeside

We were honored to have Bro. David Gibbs at Lakeside this past Sunday. The Lord used him to bring 3 outstanding messages that stirred all of our hearts. 40 years ago the Lord led him to begin the Christian Law Association that has helped many preachers and ministries with legal issues. Our Christian freedoms are at stake. The name of Jesus has become controversial in the eyes of the world. We are grateful for Bro. Gibbs ministry and are glad he is a friend of Lakeside. You may want to see his website at http://www.christianlaw.org/

Fun with the Joy Class

Enjoying fellowship on the bus with a group of Senior Saints. We had a delicious meal at Shealys and then went to the Christmas drama "This Man Called Jesus" at Lake Murray. Looking forward to a great day with Dr. David Gibbs, Jr. on Sunday.

Happy Birthday Tyler!

Everything changed for us 7 years ago today. It's hard to describe how much joy he has brought into our life. We love you little buddy! Tyler wanted to go camping for his birthday so we are enjoying a few days in the woods.

Bro. Ron Comfort

We were able to have Revival meetings with Bro. Ron Comfort this week at Lakeside. We praise the Lord for the ones saved, for the wonderful attendance, for the beautiful music by our choir and for the messages preached by Bro. Comfort. I never will forget when I was 14, that God called me to preach at the Bill Rice Ranch after hearing him preach. I've had the honor to preach at his Bible College and enjoy many other times of fellowship. I cherish his friendship!

Fall Festival

I hope you enjoy these pictures of our recent Fall Festival. Thank you to all who help make this a memorable outreach. Our children's ministry is growing and becoming more exciting every day. We are family people. We are passionate about reaching and helping families in every area. This past Sunday was our best attendance of the year in Sunday School Bible Study. Make a commitment to have your family involved and growing in Christ.

Missionary Todd Bell

We had a tremendous service last night with Pastor Todd Bell from Sanford, Maine. Todd and his family have been missionary church planters in the Northeast for over 15 years. The Lord is doing a great work through the Bell family and the people of Calvary Baptist Church. Todd and I have become close personal friends over the last few years because of the ministry and we have been able to spend a lot of time together serving the Lord. I have had the joy of preaching in his church in Maine, staying in their home, flying with him in his plane and trying unsuccessfully to beat him on the golf course. I am grateful for his encouragement and help to me. He gave a great challenge last night and we are honored to have him as a part of our Lakeside mission family. You might enjoy following his daily blog at http://calvaryofsanford.blogspot.com/

BBQ Barn Aiken

Monday, I enjoyed opening day of the Aiken BBQ Barn. I was able to have a prayer of dedication with Jody and all of his employees. The food was great too!

I Love My Wife!

I love my wife! Pat and I have been married for over 26 years and have been able to share so much together here as well as many places around the world. She is the love of my life! We recently had a scare with her having major surgery and are extremely grateful for her recovery. I owe so much to her for all she does for me. We both enjoyed the Couples Retreat this past week and I am even more passionate not only to love her more, but to continue to serve Christ together with her.

Yesterday

The Lord blessed with another tremendous day at Lakeside yesterday. The building was filled again with many at the altar. We also had 5 more people baptized. It is a particular blessing to see God working in our young people. Grant, one of our faithful young men in the youth group recently began bringing some of his friends to church. One young man, a teammate of his and Casey's from Midland Valley, recently scored a 79 yard touchdown on Friday night, shot a huge buck on Saturday and then came forward to publicly profess faith in Christ on Sunday. I had the joy of baptizing him yesterday along with another one of their friends, a young lady who is a cheerleader with Sydney at Midland Valley. Praise God! Keep up the good work young people.

Yesterday

I just can't get over the thrill of being able to Pastor the people of Lakeside. It seems like every week it just gets better and better. Our attendance continues to grow steadily as you work hard to bring new people each week. The building was filled again yesterday and there were many at the altar during the invitation. The choir is doing a remarkable job. I love to hear you sing! There is a joyful spirit in our services and we are careful to give Christ all the praise and glory for what He is doing. We love you.

Teen Bible Quizzing

We certainly are proud of our young people for being involved in our Bible Quiz program. I have been impressed to see teens excited about Bible study and memorization. Because of growth Bro. Ray has recently added 2 more teams of quizzers. Thank you coaches and parents for your work and encouragement. We love our young people and can't wait to see what will happen this quiz season.

Michael Frank Golf Classic

Had a great time of fellowship today playing golf in the Michael Frank Golf Classic at The River Golf Club in North Augusta. My playing partners were Leon Waters and Tim Littleton from Lakeside and David Mims from Denver, NC. David is my cousin (more like a brother) and is Pastor of Beth Haven Baptist Church. Michael Frank was a public servant in our community, a faithful member of Lakeside and had become my friend before he went to heaven almost a year ago. It was a joy to remember him today.

Express-oh!

We enjoyed a great time of fellowship after church last night with a group from our College and Career ministry. I am really impressed with this group of young adults because they have so much potential to be used of the Lord. Many are already involved in serving at Lakeside while also working on their education and their careers. It was a joy to see so many of them serving on the front lines of missions on our recent trip to South Africa. I want to say thanks to the folks at Express-oh! that treated us very well.

Josh Durden Fights The Good Fight!

Josh Durden had a remarkable career as an amatuer and professional boxer in the ring. Pray for Josh as he has now entered a new arena. Josh made a public decision recently to leave his boxing career to preach the gospel of Christ! We praise the Lord for several young men that are studying and praying about God leading them into his service.

Fellowship Ride

Even the cold and a little drizzle didn't stop a few of us from enjoying a ride this past Saturday. Thank the Lord there was sunshine in Hilton Head!

Encouraging Ladies

My wife (Pat) and I are pictured with 2 ladies in our church who are a real encouragement to me as a preacher of the gospel.
Mrs. Pat Robertson (top right) was married to Dr. E.G. Robertson, affectionatly known to Lakeside as Bro. Ernie. Until his homegoing last year, the Lord had marvelously used Bro. Ernie as a pastor of some great churches including New Testament Baptist Church in Miami, FL. The last 2 years of his life were spent encouraging the folks at Lakeside and helping to prepare the way for a new preacher. He made a tremendous impact on our ministry and we are grateful that Mrs. Pat continues to bless us by her faithful example, counseling and prayer.
Bro. Bob Kelly also made a significant impact on my life as a young man. He was one of my favorite preachers. I would travel sometimes a good distance just to hear him preach a special meeting. He pastored Franklin Road Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, TN and Grace Baptist Church in Columbia, SC. Mrs. April Kelly (bottom right) is a faithful member and always gives me an encouraging word.
Both of these ladies are a joy to know and I love to see their smiling faces while I am preaching.

Wednesday, October 7, 2009

Since Monday, I have been at the Nationwide Independent
Baptist Fellowship in Atlanta at Peoples Baptist Church. The preaching
has been encouraging with Kenny Baldwin, Scott Pauley, Clarence Sexton,
David Gibbs, Johnny Pope, Bobby Roberson and Paul Chappell.
Please pray for me as I will be speaking this morning at one of the
workshops and then heading back home for our service tonight at
Lakeside. May God richly bless each of you today
