Yesterday
I just can't get over the thrill of being able to Pastor the people of Lakeside. It seems like every week it just gets better and better. Our attendance continues to grow steadily as you work hard to bring new people each week. The building was filled again yesterday and there were many at the altar during the invitation. The choir is doing a remarkable job. I love to hear you sing! There is a joyful spirit in our services and we are careful to give Christ all the praise and glory for what He is doing. We love you.
Teen Bible Quizzing
We certainly are proud of our young people for being involved in our Bible Quiz program. I have been impressed to see teens excited about Bible study and memorization. Because of growth Bro. Ray has recently added 2 more teams of quizzers. Thank you coaches and parents for your work and encouragement. We love our young people and can't wait to see what will happen this quiz season.
Michael Frank Golf Classic
Had a great time of fellowship today playing golf in the Michael Frank Golf Classic at The River Golf Club in North Augusta. My playing partners were Leon Waters and Tim Littleton from Lakeside and David Mims from Denver, NC. David is my cousin (more like a brother) and is Pastor of Beth Haven Baptist Church. Michael Frank was a public servant in our community, a faithful member of Lakeside and had become my friend before he went to heaven almost a year ago. It was a joy to remember him today.
Express-oh!
We enjoyed a great time of fellowship after church last night with a group from our College and Career ministry. I am really impressed with this group of young adults because they have so much potential to be used of the Lord. Many are already involved in serving at Lakeside while also working on their education and their careers. It was a joy to see so many of them serving on the front lines of missions on our recent trip to South Africa. I want to say thanks to the folks at Express-oh! that treated us very well.

Josh Durden Fights The Good Fight!
Josh Durden had a remarkable career as an amatuer and professional boxer in the ring. Pray for Josh as he has now entered a new arena. Josh made a public decision recently to leave his boxing career to preach the gospel of Christ! We praise the Lord for several young men that are studying and praying about God leading them into his service.

Encouraging Ladies
My wife (Pat) and I are pictured with 2 ladies in our church who are a real encouragement to me as a preacher of the gospel.
Mrs. Pat Robertson (top right) was married to Dr. E.G. Robertson, affectionatly known to Lakeside as Bro. Ernie. Until his homegoing last year, the Lord had marvelously used Bro. Ernie as a pastor of some great churches including New Testament Baptist Church in Miami, FL. The last 2 years of his life were spent encouraging the folks at Lakeside and helping to prepare the way for a new preacher. He made a tremendous impact on our ministry and we are grateful that Mrs. Pat continues to bless us by her faithful example, counseling and prayer.
Bro. Bob Kelly also made a significant impact on my life as a young man. He was one of my favorite preachers. I would travel sometimes a good distance just to hear him preach a special meeting. He pastored Franklin Road Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, TN and Grace Baptist Church in Columbia, SC. Mrs. April Kelly (bottom right) is a faithful member and always gives me an encouraging word.
Both of these ladies are a joy to know and I love to see their smiling faces while I am preaching.

Since Monday, I have been at the Nationwide Independent
Baptist Fellowship in Atlanta at Peoples Baptist Church. The preaching
has been encouraging with Kenny Baldwin, Scott Pauley, Clarence Sexton,
David Gibbs, Johnny Pope, Bobby Roberson and Paul Chappell.
Please pray for me as I will be speaking this morning at one of the
workshops and then heading back home for our service tonight at
Lakeside. May God richly bless each of you today

Soul-Winning at Sassafras Festival
There were thousands of people at the Sassafras Festival on 421 yesterday and praise the Lord for the faithful folks from Lakeside that were there soul-winning! They were able to distribute 1000 John/Romans, hundreds of tracts, and cold bottled water. They painted children's faces, designed animal balloons and met many people who live within short driving distance of Lakeside. Mark 16:15 says "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." We want to "stay after souls" constantly. Thank the Lord that there were people who responded for salvation yesterday because of our soul-winning efforts!
